A computer power harness is a collection of wires and cables used to connect a power supply unit (PSU) to a computer's motherboard, graphics card, hard drive, and other components. They serve to supply power, transmit power and signals, and provide the computer with the required power and data connections.
There are many types of computer power harnesses, the following are some common types of computer power harnesses:
1. Main Power Cable: The Main Power Cable is an important harness that connects the power supply to the motherboard, usually using the ATX or EPS standard. It includes the main power connector, such as the 24-pin or 20+4-pin main power connector, which is used to provide the main power required by the motherboard.
2. CPU Power Harness (CPU Power Cable): CPU Power Harness is a harness that connects the power supply to the CPU socket, usually with a 4+4-pin or 8-pin connector. It provides a stable power supply for the CPU to ensure the CPU runs normally.
3. Graphics Card Power Cable: The graphics card power cable is used to provide power to the discrete graphics card. Common connectors include 6-pin, 8-pin, or 6+2-pin PCI-E connectors. High power graphics cards may require multiple power harnesses for power supply.
4. Storage Device Power Cable: The Storage Device Power Cable is used to provide power to storage devices such as hard disk drives (HDDs) and solid state drives (SSDs). Common connectors include SATA power connectors and Molex power connectors.
Fan Power Cable: The Fan Power Cable is used to provide power to the fans inside the computer. Usually a 3-pin or 4-pin connector is used and can be connected to the motherboard or power supply.
6. Front Panel Power Cable: The Front Panel Power Cable is used to connect components such as the power button, reset button, and LED indicators on the front panel of the computer to the motherboard.
7. Data Cables: In addition to the power supply harness, the computer power harness also includes a data harness, which is used to transmit data signals. Common data harnesses include SATA data harnesses, USB harnesses, audio harnesses, etc.
8. Other auxiliary harnesses: There are some other auxiliary harnesses, such as expansion card power harnesses, harnesses between power supply and fan controller, LED strip harnesses, etc.
The selection and combination of these computer power harness types depends on the computer configuration and needs. Different computer builds and use cases may require different types of power harnesses to meet power supply and data connection requirements. Therefore, depending on individual needs, computer users can choose the appropriate power harness configuration to ensure proper computer operation and stability.
